THERE ARE NO STAGE MANAGEMENT POSITIONS AVAILABLE.

Please prepare a short song in the style of the show. Singing from the show is fine. Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

BREAKDOWN

Seeking:

ROCKY: (Late 20s-Late 30s) Self dubbed the “Italian Stallion,” Rocky starts out as an underdog small time boxer who will later get a shot at the world heavyweight championship. By day, Rocky works as a debt collector for a loan shark. A strong athlete. Stage combat experience is helpful but not a pre requisite. Working class. Has depth, brooding and darkness but also a good sense of humor. Not be too slick or polished. Has a strong musical theatre, pop/rock voice.

ADRIAN: (Late 20s-Late 30s) Rocky’s love interest and Paulie’s younger sister. Adrian is a clerk in a local pet store that Rocky visits and unsuccessfully tries to woo. Adrian is painfully shy. She is damaged, vulnerable and wounded. Has fragility. Adrian is pretty but not too pretty, nothing polished or done-up about her look. Blossoms throughout the show. Has a great voice with a strong belt.

MICKEY: (50s-70s) Rocky’s trainer. Irish. Mickey is tough, angry and vulnerable. Nimble. Mickey is an old man who doesn’t believe he is old. He loves the world of boxing. Mickey is a surrogate father to Rocky. Sings.

PAULIE: (Mid 30s-Mid 40s) Adrian’s brother and friend of Rocky’s. Paulie works at a meat packing plant but begs Rocky for an in to a job as a debt collector. Paulie is an alcoholic which can launch him into rages. He is angry, defeated and cynical. Has a sense of danger but also has great comedic ability. Is musical and has a sense of rhythm.

GLORIA: (40s) Paulie’s love interest. Has been married and divorced. Owns the local pet store. Is very comfortable in her own skin. Has sex appeal. A strong singer and moves well.

APOLLO: (Mid-Late 30s) African American. Championship boxer. A favorite to win the World heavyweight championship. Extremely confident. Has sex appeal. Is a strong athlete and an excellent singer. Stage combat experience is helpful but not a pre-requisite.
