Rise Above Performing Arts Opens Season With SPRING AWAKENING

Rise Above Performing Arts will open its 9th season with the dramatic and inspirational musical, Spring Awakening. The show which opens June 7 and runs through June 15 is Rise Above‘s professional alumni show. This talented group of 22 performers led by Cameron Cabral (Melchior), Leena Jarrar (Wendela), and Alex McLemore (Moritz) take you on a journey of self discovery.

The winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, told by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater through what Entertainment Weekly called, "the most gorgeous Broadway score this decade," Spring Awakening explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with a poignancy and passion that is illuminating and unforgettable. The landmark musical is an electrifying fusion of morality, sexuality and rock and roll that is exhilarating audiences across the nation like no other musical in years.

Artistic Director Jacob Ruscoe is thrilled to bring one of his favorite all-time musicals to life noting, "this may be one of the most talented casts to ever perform in Sarasota. They have grabbed hold of the vision to tell a beautiful story. With a cast full of powerful vocals and intense choreography, Spring Awakening is sure to leave you breathless."
