About the show
Hedwig, an East German rocker, and their band, The Angry Inch, are coming to The Garage Theatre this summer! Part storyteller, part rock & roll goddess, Hedwig speaks of their journey from East Berlin, searching for their other half, and the strength to survive a life that has not been kind. Loveless parents, a botched sex change operation, heartache. and their music stolen from a boy who goes on to be a famous rock star causes Hedwig to drift further and further away from themself. Through their music, Hedwig begins to strip down the walls built by life's brutality and finds that individuality exists not by being what the world wants you to be, but through love and acceptance of one's self.
This Obie winning Off-Broadway hit is equal parts funny, inspiring, heart-breaking, and one badass rock show! The Garage Theatre is honored to finally bring this groundbreaking piece to our Long Beach community.
This is an Equity Waiver production. Union and non-Union members are welcome.
