Heidi - Role is CAST

Mike - Any Ethnicity. 40s-50s. Male, Heidi’s friend. First appears as an assertive American Legionnaire monitor, a stickler for the rules. Later turns into Heidi’s ally and assistant, reflective and genuine.

Debater - she/her and/or they/them. Any ethnicity. A 13-18 year old high school debater. Appears only in Act 2. Some onstage experience, ideally in speech and/or debate and theatre is a plus. Comfortable with and willing to improvise within the confines of the show. NOTE: We will be looking to cast 2 TEEN DEBATERS, and each would have their own performances

MATT: White (ages 21, 27, 31 & 33). A slightly messy guy who is talkative and wears his emotions on his sleeve. Has restless energy that can sometimes dip into anxiety. Definitely talks before he thinks. Works in a wine bar. A huge basketball fan.

SHAWN: Black (ages 21, 27, 31, & 33). A sometimes introverted but confident guy. Definitely thinks before he talks. Always has an opinion even if doesn't constantly express it. Quietly ambitious. A writer. A huge basketball fan.

THE SHARK IS BROKEN

SEEKING:

Robert Shaw: White, male, 47, Great English actor renowned for his work in Shakespeare. Also, a veteran of Pinter’s first few plays. Has recently started his American film career, notably in The Sting and The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. A heavy drinker and great raconteur.

Richard Dreyfuss: White, male, 27, Jewish. Beginning his film career and has ambitions of being a great stage actor. Incredibly frustrated with being stuck with an overbudget, overscheduled shoot for a film that seems destined to flop.

Roy Scheider: White, male, 42. A former welterweight champion boxer. Has recently achieved success and an Oscar nomination in supporting roles. Much calmer than his two costars but none-the less equally frustrated with the endless shoot.
