Death of England: Delroy

Following their acclaimed world premieres at the National Theatre,  between 2020 – 2023, Clint Dyer and Roy Williams' three state of the nation plays, Death of England: Michael, Death of England: Delroy and Death of England: Closing Time will be performed together in the West End for the very first time as a unique theatrical event for a strictly limited season @sohoplace theatre.

The Young Vic Theatre has announced casting for the European premiere of the electrifying Tony, Drama Desk and Critics Circle Award-winning rock musical Passing Strange.

The National Theatre today released rehearsal images for Death of England: Closing Time.  Deputy Artistic Director, Clint Dyer and acclaimed playwright, Roy Williams, have reunited to write this powerful new play, which is the final, standalone chapter of their award-winning Death of England series.

The National Theatre has announced three new productions for 2023 and the revival of the critically acclaimed The Father and the Assassin. A new production devised by The PappyShow will tour directly to 55 schools across England, and National Theatre Live brings The Crucible, Othello and GOOD to cinema goers around the world.

The Lehman Trilogy is headed back to the West End in January 2023, and the production has found its stars! The play will be led by Michael Malogun, Hadley Fraser, and Nigel Lindsay.

ALI, a new musical celebrating the life and legacy of the heavyweight boxing champion and humanitarian Muhammad Ali is being developed for Broadway.

Sadler's Wells and 180 Studios present the world premiere of Ivan Michael Blackstock's TRAPLORD which runs at 180 Studios from Saturday 26 March – Saturday 16 April 2022 in a co-production with The Factory and ALTRUVIOLET.  

The team behind Death of England and its spin-off-slash-standalone-sequel Death of England: Delroy have been busy since their last involvement with the material, with Delroy dramatically closing on press night due to the measure of the second lockdown. Now, Clint Dyer and Roy Williams’s latest collaboration is landing on screen as a hybrid film that deals with the permanent scars that the events in the first instalments left.

The Forest by Florian Zeller, translated by Christopher Hampton, with direction by Jonathan Kent, will run from 4 February until 12 March. The Fever Syndrome by Alexis Zegerman, directed by Hampstead Theatre's Artistic Director, Roxana Silbert, will run from 18 March until 23 April. The Fellowship by Roy Williams, directed by Paulette Randall, will run from 17 June until 23 July.

Pitlochry Festival Theatre and The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, in association with Naked Productions, have announced the World Première of History, Roy Williams' new play which will give audiences a kaleidoscopic portrait of Black Britain over the last 40 years.

The National Theatre has today announced its programming until the start of next year with productions on all three South Bank stages as well as three major UK tours, two productions on Broadway, a return to cinemas, and a new feature film to be broadcast on television this autumn. In the week the theatre reopened for audiences again, six new productions were announced, and five productions halted by the pandemic were confirmed to return to the South Bank.

The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre today announces the world premiere of Out West featuring works by three of the UK's leading playwrights, Tanika Gupta (A Doll's House), Simon Stephens (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) and Roy Williams (Death Of England: Delroy), to reopen the venue.

Fictionhouse has announced the appointment of Emily McLaughlin as Head of Development.

The National Theatre has announced today that Clint Dyer has been appointed Deputy Artistic Director. He will work closely with Rufus Norris, Director and Joint Chief Executive, and Emily McLaughlin, Director of New Work to support and shape the NT’s creative output.

England is going into another lockdown, initially planned to last from Thursday, 4 November until Wednesday, 2 December - although the Government hasn't ruled out an extension into December if necessary. So, what does this mean for theatres?

England will be entering its second national lockdown on Thursday, November 5 to help stop the spread of coronavirus, and thereby temporarily shutting down non-essential businesses. The National Theatre has announced that performances of Death of England: Delroy will be cancelled from November 5-28.
